Corn. Bak has chosen to redefine its focus. Moving forward, the company will concentrate on breeding and propagation of carnivorous plants and will also launch seed treatment initiatives. We consider Corn. Bak’s Bromeliad assets a valuable addition to our portfolio and expect to expand the range further, enabling us to serve our customers even better with high-quality propagation material for Bromeliads.

Mark van der Knaap emphasises the significance of this move: “This acquisition is perfectly aligned with our strategy to expand our range of tropical ornamentals. Corn. Bak’s Bromeliad assets are a valuable addition to our current Bromeliad offerings. Thanks to our expertise, we can continue to broaden the range and breed new varieties from an extensive genetic base, thereby consolidating our position in the market.”

Elly Bak of Corn. Bak adds, “We are proud of what we have achieved with Bromeliads over the past 50 years. Through this acquisition, our knowledge and genetic base are preserved, and our customers can continue to rely on a broad Bromeliad portfolio and new variety development prospects. At the same time, we can fully dedicate ourselves to carnivorous and foliage plants and to developing our seed treatment activities.”

Over the coming period, Corn. Bak will gradually transfer its Bromeliad assets—including all related knowledge and expertise—to Anthura. Both parties will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition for customers and suppliers, with unwavering attention to quality and availability.
