Introduction: Mads Jensen

In April, I began my role as General Manager at Anthura Kunming, under the guidance of Sander Smeding. To be honest, I’m delighted to have left the world of less-than-healthy beverage products behind to focus on making the beauty of Phalaenopsis, Anthurium and Bromeliad accessible to more people. Contributing to Creating Blooming Happiness provides a strong personal sense of fulfilment.

In this new role, I have the privilege of working with a highly dedicated and experienced management team of seven colleagues in China. Together, we manage nearly 600 employees across our laboratories, greenhouses and support departments.

My work can broadly be summarised by three core tasks:

  • Fine-tuning daily operations and services;
  • Creating a safe and stable working environment for everyone;
  • Making our organisation future-proof, including through incremental automation

The ultimate goal is to bring the highest Dutch quality standards to the far reaches of Kunming in China.

What makes this role especially meaningful is the opportunity to build a bridge between Western and Eastern perspectives and cultures. For European companies, China can sometimes be a challenging market due to distance, language and cultural differences. My aim is to help build these bridges so that Anthura Kunming can connect even more closely with the wider Anthura family. I very much look forward to working with colleagues in Bleiswijk, Arndt and North Macedonia!
