Meet George Zwart from the Technical Service department
Meet George Zwart! One of our amazing colleagues from the Technical Service department.

Can you introduce yourself?
My name is George Zwart, I’m 44 years old and I live in Zoetermeer with my wife and our pets. Outside of work, I’m a big fan of Japanese animation and comics (anime and manga). I help organize the annual Japanese pop culture festival AnimeCon. My wife and I also regularly attend similar events like AbunaiCon, Dutch Comic Con, and Fantasy Fest.
I also enjoy traveling, reading, and playing games, both video games and board games. And if there’s still time left after all those hobbies, I occasionally brew a batch of beer, mead, or cider at home.
What is your role at Anthura and how long have you been working here?
I joined Anthura in 2021 and work as a Maintenance Planner in the Technical Services department. My role involves coordinating the planning of the team’s activities and making sure they have the right materials and information to do their work properly. This includes scheduling regular maintenance, resolving technical issues, and preparing and planning small projects that help make our colleagues’ work easier and more efficient.
I’m also the main point of contact for external suppliers who carry out technical work at Anthura. Together with the Technical Services team, we make sure Anthura keeps running and continues to develop technically.
What do you enjoy most about working at Anthura?
No day is the same. Technically, Anthura is changing and growing rapidly. The company is at the forefront of researching, developing, and testing new cultivation and production techniques. Our Technical Services team gets to contribute to that.
Anthura is also a company that really cares about its employees. There are various programs to support personal development, and regular activities are organized—both during and outside of working hours—that colleagues can take part in.
How would you describe the working atmosphere at Anthura?
The atmosphere at Anthura is always friendly, and there’s a strong sense of teamwork. People from many different nationalities and cultural backgrounds work here, and that diversity is one of the company’s strengths.
What would you like to say to a new colleague?
Dear colleague, welcome! Anthura is a great company to work for. A lot is done for employees, and there are all kinds of programs and benefits you can make use of.
There’s also plenty to do outside of working hours: sports activities, parties, and social events. Speaking of sports—Anthura has two in-house gyms that all employees can use.
Do you have any tips for new colleagues to feel at home quickly?
Make sure to get a tour of the other locations and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Talk to colleagues from other departments too, and get to know them!
